The benefits of having a fiance with a cute Irish accent

Not sure what we were doing here, but we were having fun! At my bestie's wedding in Ireland

I'll be upfront and say that the accommodation for our Australian wedding is ridiculously expensive. The online rate for a studio room that sleeps two, on the night of our wedding is currently $305 per night. That is a lot of money. The trouble with that is, the hotel can get away with it. It is the only hotel within a 12km radius.

We chose Bunker Bay beach because it is one of only a couple of beaches in the Margaret River region that is somewhat sheltered from the wind. At the time, the functions lady at the hotel said that we would be able to get a reduced rate on the rooms. And then, we had to move the wedding date back by a week, which put our wedding date as the first day of the school holidays ($$$$$). And the functions lady left.

Both my Dad and I called separately and tried to organise some kind of discount for our guests. We were told that there was absolutely nothing they could offer us. So, we booked the rooms for ourselves and immediate family and gave information on alternative accommodation in the nearest town to our guests when we sent out our Save the Dates. We are also providing bus transfers to and from the hotels and our reception venue.

And then today, the Groomie called reservations to book a room for himself and his Best Man for the night before the wedding. And the lady offered him a discount on nightly rates if we paid upfront. So, I gave him all of our previous reservations, which he cancelled and re-booked at much better rates ($274 for a studio room).

I am thinking perhaps the reservations lady was a fan of the Irish accent? Whatever it was, I am glad that we can pass this information to everyone now! Perhaps this is the money gods' way of cutting me some slack after I found out that I'd been taxed incorrectly by my old job and now owe 3.5k to the government...

5 months yesterday until the wedding. How time flies!
